SSA Seawater Submersible LVDT Displacement Transducer
These transducers are used for displacement/position measurement. They perform an accurate position measurement of the movement of the armature (the sliding part) relative to the body of the displacement transducer.
This transducer uses the LVDT principle (Linear Variable Differential Transformer), which means that it is probably the most robust and reliable position sensor type on the market. The strength of the principle of the LVDT sensor is that there is no electrical contact across the position sensing element of the transducer, which means clean data, infinite resolution and a very long lifetime for the sensor user.
Our submersible displacement transducers are designed to take measurements while immersed in suitable liquids. Non-magnetic liquids can flood the armature tube without affecting the operation of the transducer.
The SS Series LVDTs are specifically designed for use in seawater and severe industrial environments with some corrosive chemicals. Manufactured from welded 316 stainless steel, these LVDTs have a through hole and very heavy construction. As a result, the SS Series LVDTs are able to withstand the most severe industrial applications, as well as 10 years of submersion in seawater at depths of up to 2.3 km.
