MA4501 Incremental Encoder

Incremental encoder for speed feedback with integrated mechanical overspeed switch. With new features such as a breathable membrane filter and double shaft seal, this new series is designed for harsh environments. The MA4501 series consists of a range of encoders that support combinations with integrated speed monitoring switches. The overspeed detection is based on a mechanical centrifugal principle. Once a set limit speed is exceeded, the switch indicates the triggering of the speed via dedicated electrical outputs when opening/closing. These outputs can close/open a contact or a relay with 230V and 6A. The overspeed monitoring in conjunction with standard incremental outputs makes the MA4501 suitable for use in safety-related applications.

The extremely robust design and encapsulation of the encoder series make them suitable for use in marine or offshore environments. Due to safety considerations, cranes are a standard application for the series. The MA4501 is supplied with an 11mm solid shaft with a keyway to prevent slippage. The mounting flange is compatible with previous tachogenerator interfaces, including a B10 mounting flange. The entire construction is made of high-quality stainless steel.
